Personalized
drumsticks with a drummer's name make the perfect gift. You can't go
wrong with this idea! Drummers love to have their name on their custom
drumsticks. They can throw them out to the crowd. Have a special message
written on their custom drumsticks. They can set them up on the shelf
in a display box. Don't buy drumsticks with a company name on them.
Put the drummer's name on there!

Tips
How
to Choose Drumsticks
Some of the things you need to think about when selecting
new drumsticks.
| |
1.
What type of band will you be using them in? Rock, pop, jazz? |
| |
2.
Are they straight?
Don't forget to roll drum sticks on a flat countertop.
|
| |
3.
Do you
want wood tips or nylon tips? How will the cymbals sound? |
| |
4.
Will
you be playing hard or soft... or medium volume? |
| |
5.
Ultimately, make sure the drumsticks "feel" good in your
hands. |
|
6.
Do they have a finish? Are they varnished or lacquered? |
|
7.
What type of wood are they made out of? Maple? Hickory? Oak? |
|
8.
What shape do you need the drumstick tip to be? Oval? Mushroom?
Fat? Different drumstick tips are often better for different styles
of drumming. |
|
9.
What is the look of the drumstick? Many people will choose novelty
designs like college teams, glow in the dark, or even custom drumsticks.
|
|
10.
And always make sure you test out any new drumsticks. Give them
a whirl before you make your final decision. |
Drumstick Tips
& Facts
Tips and advice for drummers. These helpful drumming
tips are great for all drummers.
| |
1.
Avoid
sticks from slipping out of your hands. Try this: Check out your
local electrical store. Ask for some shrink tubing. This is used
for electrical wire repair. The size needed is half inch. This
will shrink onto the drum stick without slipping out. Price range
is under ten dollars. Use a heat gun or hair dryer. Keep the heating
device about an inch and a half away from the shrink tubing. This
works.
|
|
| |
2.
If you're a touring drummer, be sure to take your favorite drumsticks
and drumheads on the road with you. Music stores in small towns
won't always have the drum supplies you need. |
|
| |
3.
Some of
the more common reasons drummers break drumsticks are; playing too
hard, hitting at the wrong angles, and using the wrong drumsticks
for their particular style. |
|
| |
4.
You can pitch-match your drum sticks by holding one in the air and
tapping it with the other stick. Many drummers swear by making sure
their sticks audibly match each other in pitch. |
|
| |
5.
Careful not to grip the drumstick too tight. You don't want to be
too tense when you play. On the contrary, don't hold the stick too
loose. If you're not keeping your fingers underneath, you're more
prone to dropping your drumsticks on a regular basis. |
